An activated fire alarm brought the city's fire department to the scene around 6:40 a.m., firefighters said.
"Further investigation found an electrical buss bar shorted out and activated a nearby sprinkler head," the HFD said on Facebook.
"The electrical equipment automatically shut down and the sprinkler extinguished any remaining hot spots."
Damage was contained to the electrical equipment and a small amount of hospital supplies nearby due to water from the sprinkler. Firefighters isolated and shut down the impacted sprinkler branch as well as vented remaining smoke.
City officials came to inspect the damage and hospital employees began cleaning and repairing the equipment immediately.
